Make a Unique Baby Shower Gift

A baby shower is a great way to celebrate the arrival of a newborn. It also helps the parents (especially the mother) get a head start on what seems to be an almost endless accumulation of baby products. While many baby shower gifts are purchased from a baby store, some are simply unique; why not rather present a hand-made baby shower gift which the mother-to-be will appreciate that much more.

Gift ideas for Baby Showers

  • Create a Custom CD

If the parents enjoy music and you know their tastes, create them some custom CD’s. ; One for the delivery and one or two for the baby. Be on the look-out for baby music, lullabies, or other genres that the parents enjoy.

  • Put together a Baby Shower Memory Book

The mother-to-be will be the centre of attention at the baby shower. She will thus not have the chance to take photos, record gifts, or even visit all the guests. A baby shower memory book is thus a unique way to include all of the above. Buy a photo album or baby-themed scrapbook and present it to the guest of honour. Tell her you will fill the pages and return it to her in a few days. During the baby shower, you should take a lot of photos and also save any mementos; record each gift and giver. You can also have guests write short messages in the book. Assemble the pages after the baby shower and present the book.

  • Sew a Receiving Blanket

A homemade receiving blanket is another unique baby shower gift if you can stitch a straight line. Most purchased blankets are too small to swaddle your baby. This leaves many parents and their babies frustrated.

  • Create a Baby Basket

Most first time parents do not realize how many of the baby basics they will actually need. Therefore, a much appreciated baby shower gift is a baby basket. Purchase a small, round laundry basket. Weave a length of one-inch wide grosgrain ribbon through the openings around the top of the basket. Line the inside of the basket with a baby towel or receiving blanket. Next, fill the inside with infant care necessities. Some of these could include a baby wash, baby laundry detergent, a six pack of plain onesies, sensitive skin baby wipes, and a package or two of newborn diapers.
